Question: Why do you
want to be a 3-D animator?
I think, as an artist, one of the things I like to do the most is to
create an image that you
know is impossible, but looks so real that you would swear it really
happened. Like taking
a 3-D model of a Dragon, or a robot, or a giant insect, and make it
look like they are
standing there, and someone just took a picture of them.
3-D animation will allow me to not only make something look
real, but move and
act like a real thing as well. I really like the idea of sharing
the characters and images from
my imagination and sharing them with other people.
Question: What are your long term
goals?
If I could pick any two companies out there to work for, I would love
to work for
Industrial Light and Magic, or Mainframe Entertainment.
I have always loved the StarWars saga, and participating in the evolution
of that universe
would be incredible.
Mainframe has been in the leading edge of animation for television,
creating shows like
Reboot and BeastWars. They are currently in production of a show
called Beast
Machines, the latest in the Transformers series. From my portfolio,
you can see that I am
a longtime fan of the series, and would love to work there.
Question: What do you see as your
strengths, your weaknesses?
I think my creativity and determination are good qualities. I
like working with a team, and
sharing ideas. My traditional art background is an asset, as
is experience in a number of
3-D programs. Most big firms use their own proprietary software,
so you can seldom
learn them, but learning a variety of different programs can teach
you the basics and
theories needed to use any program effectively.
