About Thane Ratliff

Digital Animator

My first exposure to computers was in the early 80’s when my Dad brought home a Texas Instruments PC.  Ah, the joys of making 8 color bitmaps pixel by pixel.  Things got really exciting in ’95, when we got a copy of CorelDRAW creative suite 6 and I got a hold of my first 3-D modeling program Corel Dream 3-D.  From the first day I got my hands on one, I have always used the computer to create art, and have never looked back.  Paintbrush, MS paint, Corel Draw, Ray dream studios, Photoshop, Flash, Lightwave, Mirai, Nemo, Softimage, Virtools and Maya have all given me new ways to manipulate digital worlds.

I earned degrees from Cerro Coso Community College in Art and Digital Animation.  I went through their Academy of Digital Animation, an internship, was a lab aid, and have taught on-ground and online classes in animation.  Nowadays I mostly do freelance work, though I do still teach classes on occasion.
